Chakra CardsI’ve used a lot of oracle card decks and would rate Chakra Wisdom Oracle Cards by Tori Hartman above average.

Oracles are helpful to reference when considering a question or issue, as they help trigger intuition and insights.

Some work better than others, and this is one of the better ones.

What I like the most is that for each card, there’s quite a bit of material, offering a good chance of hitting on what feels “just right” with regard to considering the issue from a different viewpoint, noticing something you hadn’t before, gaining more clarity, etc.

Individual Cards

For each card, there’s — of course — the card itself. Often something from the image will jump out at me. I like the illustrations by Gretchen Raisch-Baskin, and they have just the right amount of complexity.

Using the Guidebook

Within the guidebook, for each card, there is a title word, a quote, a legend (enjoyable!), an inspiration, a personal inquiry, key ideas, keywords, and a meditation.

That’s quite a lot of raw material to work and play with!

There’s also the card’s general category, or chakra, with interesting write-ups on each of those. Along with that is listed the chakra color and some implications of that.

You can also access what you already know about the colors and/or chakras, which for many of you is quite a bit of extra information since they are already pretty well-established in the main-stream.

The guidebook instructs you on using various spreads or layouts in case you aren’t familiar with them. And even if you are, Tori has put her own spin on them and her variations are fun to play with.

Packaging

The packaging is really nice but with a few tweaks it could be exceptional.

The main box easily pulls out of its jacket with a little ribbon.

Within the box is an indentation which holds the cards, and the guidbook sets nicely on top.

My only complaint is that the indentation is not fastened to the bottom of the box, so the bottom cards slide around and get stuck underneath it. This is remedied by using a rubber band around the deck, but I’m sure that’s not what was intended. 😉

Summary

All-in-all, this is a fun deck to use, and because of its broad range, you’re likely to find something that rings true for you in any draw/reading, and which offers you just the guidance you need.

I recommend it.

Note: I received these cards for free for review purposes and this review reflects my honest evaluation.

Interconnected OneLife has much more richness and depth to it when you can live it consciously. And a highly  rewarding and straightforward way of being conscious is to recognize the interconnectivity of everything.

At the same time, even  saying “every-thing”  implies that there are separate things — and of course, there are, in this dualistic dimension.

Interconnectivity & Oneness

But a better way to approach this idea is  to recognize that  everything is not just connected, it’s all one.

At that level, there isn’t even a thing and a no-thing, it’s all just one. One whole thing.

So it’s great if you can recognize at least the interconnectivity of everything, and better yet: the oneness.

And this means living in a holistic manner.

Knowing vs. Believing

It also helps to keep in mind that this doesn’t mean just thinking it’s likely so.

It means re-cognizing it, or “knowing it again”.

When you tap into the feeling and/or knowingness of this reality, of oneness, you can’t help but be more consciously aware.

Your antennae are on the lookout for connections.

And then, as you actively look for connections and interrelationships, you’ll notice that you have greater access to your own intuitive wisdom.

It means that those birds up there are not separate from what’s going on with your upcoming party. Hunh?

A Lesson from the Ravens

A few years ago, I had invited a group of people for a dinner party.

I was providing all the food and had been preparing for days. 7 people had RSVP’d, and I had planned accordingly.

But that morning, I was sitting in our outdoor jacuzzi, and suddenly there was a ruckus overhead. As I looked up, I saw 4 ravens flying right overhead.

Something about them seemed significant. Suddenly, I just “knew” what it was.

“Only 4 will be coming for dinner!” I gasped. Intellectually, I found it hard to believe — but I trusted that intuitive message.

And sure enough. 3 of the 7 people were no-shows. Didn’t even call!

So yes, those birds, and me, and the party, and the future, were all connected. Were all one.

Of course, holistic applies in other areas as well, or rather — framing that in a holistic way, where there are no “other areas”.

It applies everywhere to everything.

So, the whole supports being whole!

Holistic Health and Well-Being

We especially see this idea applied to health. And no accident, since both words, health and holistic (which has a related form, “wholistic”) come from the same root: whole.

It behooves us, when encountering any kind of health puzzle, to expand our vision from the part(s) to the whole. Open to what is going on in the entire system (i.e. body, emotions, environment, etc.) and often, just this opening reveals all kinds of ideas about how to make corrections and adjustments.

(I’ve got a great example I’ve been applying recently with what could have been a very serious health condition — but one story is enough for one post. I’ll just say that to my delight, I’ve confirmed that working with it holistically has turned it around 180°!)

Today:

Recognize, i.e. know again, the wholeness that is inherent in all … or rather, in the one. Allow (or even request) that knowing to reflect back to you whenever it’s helpful; whenever seeing the “whole” picture will benefit you.

You might even look for ways to apply this idea, for example: health conditions, situations that are occurring in your life, etc.

NOTE: I wasn’t even looking, but I just went for a short walk and couldn’t help but notice the ravens are super active today! I think they’re trying to say hello, and/or it’s the universe reconfirming today’s idea of its holistic nature. Anyway, so that you can be a part of it, I did a quick little one-minute video of some of their activity around here today. It will also give you a little taste of New Mexico. Enjoy!

So please take a look at how wholeness and/or oneness shows up in your life – and notice how that idea can be useful to you. 🙂

Until next time!

Namasté.

“Get a clue!”, my guidance yelled at me the other day.

At first I thought it had to be my own, chiding voice that pipes in from time to time, but no. The wisdom of the guidance was unmistakable.

Besides that, the signs were obvious. They’d been showing up one after another for weeks, some of them for months.

Get a clue is right.

Apparently, I’d been barreling down a road that I shouldn’t have even been on. And some part of me just didn’t want to admit it.

But I can happily report that I listened. I’m beginning to stroll merrily along a path that is much more fitting with who I am.

Have you ever done that? Found yourself heading the wrong way but not wanting to acknowledge it? Forcing your guidance to have to pull out all the stops?

I want to share a little about the signs I saw along with a few morsels of wisdom from my guide that helped me redirect myself.

The Direction

If you’ve been following the past few months, you know that I’ve adjusted my blog topic and am changing my blogging style.

The soul searching that led to that was prompted in part by a problem I started having with my shoulder. (I could write  a whole series of posts on the details of how that related to my blog. For now, just trust me. It did.)

So this was all well and good, and I had plans for quite a few posts over this next month along with some more Jyotish Tutorial articles. I was looking forward to visiting some blogs I like to read regularly. I was also participating in the Blog with Videos Bootcamp, and getting ready for a trip I’ll be taking this week.

But as I jumped in and began implementing my plans, everything started going awry.

The Signs

Because my left shoulder was so problematic when I used my netbook, I’d started sitting at my desk to work on my desktop computer.

Well, now my other shoulder started acting up from that.

Worse yet, the chair at my desk feels good but it does a number on my back if I sit there too long. Wouldn’t you know, it got my back into such a state that I tweaked it last week and now it’s seriously injured.

Even as this was going on, I got a request by someone that I couldn’t refuse. It involved yet more work at the computer. But I committed anyway, thinking I could use my netbook, just in a different position.

I turned on my netbook and heard a horrible screeching and scraping noise that should never ever come out of a computer. Eeek! I turned it off immediately. (I did some Matrix Energetics on it. I tentatively turned it back on and it’s been fine ever since … but still!)

So, there were a number of issues preventing me from being on the computer more than just an hour or two per day.

On top of that, I somehow got myself into a disfunctional emotional state on a day when I had a lot of computer work to do, mainly writing my planned posts. I just could not bring myself to write.

I was so stressed. I had to write and be at the computer, but I couldn’t.

I just couldn’t.

What to do?

Channeled Guidance

In a state of desperation I decided to try channeling about it.

I got into a channeling state and blubbered to whatever guide would listen. In came a wonderful guide I have who is a master alchemist, and very loving besides.

He sort of lectured me (quite uncommon), and then did a healing session (on the order of a chakra cleanse) that left me trembling for about 20 min. afterward.

But it was just what I needed. I was calm and focused and at peace; and have been fine (and nicely functional) ever since.

Here are a few things he said:

You’ve got to break out of the rules. I’m going to tell you that you’ve got to watch for the “should”s. [Note: I’ll get more into this with another post but I noticed a month or so back that my shoulder problems are partly about “shoulds”. Should-er. Get it?!]

But part of the joy that you are moving toward with this vacation can only be found if you can not only move into it but unfold it and create it with the consciousness of joy.

And you cannot do that while you are vibrating with the consciousness of stress.

Do what is fun for you this week, period.

You are disfunctional because you have asked to open more to your subtle self. In order to do that you have got to quit living in your old patterns.

Part of your energy system is trying to communicate that to you with ideas such as this but also in other ways. Like not allowing you to do it anymore.

Do you see all the signs?

Get a clue!

Be responsible to your spirit, your fire. This is not what you are supposed to be doing. … You aren’t going to find your way if you’re spending your time stressing out — like you did last year — about your blog.

Surrender

It might sound obvious now but at the time, since I was approaching my blog differently, I didn’t see that in many ways I was still approaching blogging the same.

I didn’t dread it like I used to before my blog changes, but I still had too many expectations and just as much stress around it.

I decided to completely surrender to the circumstances.

Not only that, but to consider what they might be telling me. (For I don’t think circumstances are really “outside” of me. They’re me, having a conversation with myself.) It seemed the least I could do since they had to yell it at me just like my channeling guide had to.

For someone as tenacious as me, surrender was difficult. But it was a relief at the same time.

So I did what I had already committed to (because that’s what I do). I submitted a new Jyotish Tutorial article and met my commitments to the person I didn’t dare say no to.

I still felt I ought to post, even wanted to post, but saw that feeling a need to do it now while so many circumstances were against it was nothing more than a should.

I knew it was time to put my attention on other priorities such as healing my back so I can travel, and getting ready for my trip.

So I did that. I did what I enjoyed; and enjoyed what I did.

And I didn’t stress about anything.

The New Path

Over the past half week, I feel like a new person.

And even though I don’t know exactly where this renewed way of operating will take me, I’m somehow trusting that it will be good. And of course, if it’s not, I can always change course when the time is right. I can respond in the moment.

I did have one challenge yesterday. The husband of a good friend of mine who lives about an hour away is dying as we speak. He’s also a friend and I’m wanting to do whatever I can for them. But with my back condition, I haven’t been able to.

I’d accepted that but yesterday I got word that he was somewhat conscious and coherent.

I wanted so badly to drive down there and visit.

But even as I began to consider it, my back went into intense spasms! Even then, it took me a little while to see the connection and realize that again, my guidance was having to yell at me!

“Knock it off!”, it was saying.

Get a clue!

Today, I remain in surrender. I’m sitting in a comfortable position writing this post. And then I’ll go get my packing done for my trip. I’m fortunate to know how to do distance sessions with my dear friends who are in crisis — perhaps an even better help than being there in person.

And whatever doesn’t work out, just doesn’t work out; and what does, does.

I’m okay with it. It’s not up to me to control everything.

This morning I said a prayer I learned when I was in recovery:

God, I offer myself to Thee, to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt.

Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I might better do Thy will.

I’m not pretending that I know best.

I’m just doing what I can to hear Divine guidance, and then to follow it without kicking and screaming for a change, so that it doesn’t have to scream at me!

And all the while, I get to live in curious anticipation of how it’s going to unfold.

What a much more enjoyable way to live!

P.S. As you might have guessed, I didn’t write the posts I intended to schedule for you during my trip. So! I may not be back here until I physically return in a few weeks. (Anyway, it seems this is long enough to last you til then. Oops!) Of course I’ll be checking in for comments, though, so I’d still love to hear from you!

How about you? Does your guidance ever have to scream at you? How do you understand “surrender”? Where are you with this right now?

Oracle decks can provide great insight and movement when you’re feeling stuck, or a revealing foray into any topic you choose if you just want to expand your awareness.

And two of my very favorite decks are available to use online for free.

They’re the two Osho decks and you can find them right here: The Osho Transformation Tarot and the Osho Zen Tarot.

The Zen and Transformation Tarots

The Zen Tarot is based on a traditional Tarot deck, i.e. 4 suits, the major arcana cards, etc., although it has its own suits and well, its own everything. 😀

But the Transformation Tarot is not a Tarot deck at all. (I think the word “Tarot” is commonly mis-used in place of “Oracle”.) It’s a collection of 60 cards with no hierarchy or groupings.

They’re both written by Osho and have a wise perspective and a depth to them that a lot of decks lack.

I discovered the Osho Transformation Tarot first and what I love about it is that each card not only has an “insight” but it has a parable that goes along with it. Together these two elements make for a great tool of self-discovery and I always come away with something useful.

I had seen the Osho Zen Tarot recommended by a lot of people for its beautiful artwork and I whole-heartedly agree. It’s breathtaking. It’s art that’s evocative as well, so when you look at a card, it calls up something from deep inside which is the whole point of these oracle cards, after all. They’re unusually beautiful and because of that, this one’s possibly my most favorite deck of all.

Exhaustion

Both decks come with substantial books that are valuable in their own right. They include instructions for using the decks for various purposes along with some unique and useful spreads to use.

Even when you use them online, you can choose from among several different easy to use spreads.

Short on time, or like to keep things simple? Just pull one card, I’m sure that will be plenty! (Did you do it? What did you get? I just got Exhaustion from the Osho Zen Tarot. A part of it says “Life isn’t a business to be managed, it’s a mystery to be lived.” Perfect.)

Never Worked With an Oracle Deck Before?

Eliza Fayle over at Silver & Grace just released her brand new e-guide Developing Our Intuitive Self: Tarot and Oracle Card User Guide. She let me have a sneak peak and I have to say, you just might want to run over there and snag one. (For under 5 bucks you can download a copy immediately.)

It’s beautifully designed and features the fascinating Faerie’s Oracle deck by illustrator Brian Froud. In her lively way, Eliza teaches you all you need to know to get started doing your own oracle card readings, and then some.

I especially liked her section “Asking the right type of question” where she elaborates on “The goal of using cards to develop your intuition is to problem solve, not receive yes or no answers.” She uses lots of real life examples so you really get a feel for how to work and play with the cards.

And if you are so brand new to this that you don’t have an oracle deck, you can use her book in conjunction with one of the online Osho decks I recommended.

Your Turn

Whether you’re a beginner or an old pro, using oracle decks can add a new dimension to your experiences. Oracle decks can fill a need all the way from help through a serious crisis to fun exercises that stretch your intuitive muscles.

[And just so you know, I’m not an affiliate for any of the products I mention in this post. I just want you to know about them.]

Do you have any favorite decks? I’d love to know what they are.

Or did you go to the Osho site and try a spread? Want to share your reading?

Did you like the decks and/or Eliza’s guide? Anything else?

So how come there are just STOP signs and no GO signs?

Oh wait! That’s not our problem, because we’re talking about oracle-type signs here. Whew! In fact, we are going to SPOT signs. Ar ar.

Watching for and noticing these is a favorite past-time of mine, partly because it’s fun but mainly because it’s so helpful.

I want to tell you about 2 of the more easy signs to spot so you can benefit too.

This post was partly inspired by Collette Baron-Reid’s blog, which I’m happy to have discovered recently. A little while back, she had written a post about using her pumpkin soup as an oracle. Yes, pumpkin soup!

It was a resourceful idea and fun to read. I commented that “… the whole world is our oracle, and it is so fun playing with it that way. So many of my spot-on intuitions come to me that way, often startlingly so.”

Well, this past week Collette wrote another oracle post offering an exercise in using our world as an oracle and asking for our results as comments.

This time I had a little more to say than would fit into a comment so I am going to share a few of my experiences here.

I have two examples of using our world as an oracle, both illustrating signs that are easy to spot. There is an awful lot to say about this topic and I will explain more in the future but for now here is a bite-size morsel.

Spotted & Spot-On: 2 Examples

The morsel I want to offer today is the idea of a sign repeating itself, i.e. an element in your environment showing up multiple times. This is usually hard to miss and is a call to pay attention.

In Vedic astrology (which is a complex oracular system in itself) this idea is known as confluence. It’s one thing to see an indication in someone’s chart once, but if you see it two, three, four or more times from various perspectives, it’s much more likely to manifest.

Well, this is a similar idea.

  1. If something shows up several times out of the blue, especially something you have no control over or is unusual, then pay attention.
  2. Or if a synchronicity shows up (something appearing more than once but as a set of related elements, a type of coincidence), then pay attention to that, too.

Example 1: Synchronicity

The day before I read Collette’s most recent oracle post, I was researching something about my early days of channeling. I was looking at a document I’d written four years ago.

What I was doing wasn’t related to oracles, and the document I was looking at wasn’t about oracles, but the document included a really neat example of an oracle.

The next day, I saw Collette’s post where she asked for an example of using an outer oracle.

So you see where the idea of an example of an oracle showed up twice in unrelated and unexpected ways. This is a simple example of a synchronicity.

At first I was going to do the exercise as Collette suggested, but I noticed the synchronicity in this. I decided the synchronicity was a message to me to write about this particular example of an oracle. It all feels right and I’m kind of excited about sharing it. So here I am!

How Do You Know When Synchronicities Are Relevant?

Any or all of these work. Ideally you want a few of them at once.

  • You notice it
  • Either one or both elements are unusual
  • The elements have an unusual connection
  • There is more than one element or connection (this can play out in any number of ways)
  • It feels significant
  • You feel a sense of excitement about executing the guidance (doing what you think it’s guiding you to do)
  • It just “feels right”!

An especially interesting and thorough book about the power of synchronicity is Deepak Chopra’s The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire: Harnessing the Infinite Power of Coincidence.

Example 2: Multiple Occurrences

This example is the oracle I referred to above, that I experienced and documented four years ago. It’s a situation where something showed up at least 3 times.

To briefly set the stage, I was experimenting with a precursor to my channeling. I would ask a question and “get” an answer however it showed up.

My question (about my intuition) was:

Q: How can I best hear/see/feel/connect so I have confidence it is happening?

The answer was:

A: Follow through on what you “get” and you will see.

This was fine, but I wanted more. So I probed:

Q: Please give me something I cannot doubt.

And the document continues:

The following just then came to mind; not especially related to questions:

Use your hands (and I saw fire coming from my palms)

and then I for some reason put my hands on my heart, and put my awareness in my heart too.

Regarding the answer to “give me something I cannot doubt”, here’s what unfolded:

– I went to the big, old piñon out back to let the crystals soak in water in the solstice sun. A little bug flew down onto the rock in front of me. It turned around and watched me. It flew away, came back, same thing! So I talked to it and asked it if it had a message. It rubbed its little hands together and they stopped in a prayer position. He stayed that way. (I took it to mean I ought to pray more.)

– A little later (~ ½ hr.) I was in my office and heard *clunk* in the living room. My white chocolate angel on the buffet had fallen forward on her nose! (The cooler was on, but this has never happened before). She is praying.

– Dana got home about ½ hr. after that. He brought me a gift from my friend. It was an ANGEL statue!! It’s holding a red rose in the heart area.

So prayer – prayer/angel – angel. (And even the bug had wings.) All with hands over heart.

The Nice Thing About Multiple Occurrences

1) They are so obvious as to almost knock you over the head!

In this example, there is no way I could have possibly missed all the similar and related objects and events.

2) Their message is clear as a bell.

In this example, it gave me a crystal clear answer to my first question about how I can best connect: to pray and to connect with heart and/or “angel” energy, which to me is quite high frequency and I have techniques for doing that.

3) They can give you confidence and trust that you are “getting” it.

In this example, it gave me something I could not doubt, just what I asked for in my 2nd question/request! The prayer and angel symbols showed up in my real world 3 times within an hour.

So ultimately, what these can do for you is strongly encourage you to trust what you get. And then that will help you act on it, which in turn will help you benefit from the message!

These Apply to All Areas of Life

One final word: I hesitated to use this example because it’s so angel/prayer oriented. Not that there’s anything wrong with that 😀 but I don’t want you to get the impression this just works with airy-fairy stuff!

Heck, answers or messages can pop in when you’re grocery shopping to help you pick the most healthful or yummy foods, when you’re making financial decisions, developing relationships, choosing careers… Anytime for anything! It just so happened that my example related to my wanting to do subtle energy work, so of course the answer is in that realm too. Plus, I was guided to use this example by a synchronicity, remember? 😉 And I have learned to pay attention.

And remember to ask sometimes, too. That helps!

OK, now I know some of you have some great stories! Please share your examples! And of course, questions are welcome too.

Or did you need a YES today? Think this was it?
