E-CubedE-Cubed: Nine More Energy Experiments That Prove Manifesting Magic and Miracles Is Your Full-Time Gig by Pam Grout is a fun book.

Pam has a candid way of writing which is entertaining in itself, and at the same time the experiments she presents are lively practices that can shake you loose and help you be aware of how fun this thing called “life” can be.

In many ways, what I have to say about this book I’ve already said in my review of her previous book E-Squared: Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality, where I’ve gone into some detail.

This one begins by thoughtfully including a summary/review of the experiments from E-Squared, then proceeds to present 9 more (10, actually; one a “bonus”).

In some ways these are along the same vein, but with a bit more focus on mind-set and more subtle sources of manifestation.

Some of them that I particularly enjoyed and found effective are practices I’ve been making a point to incorporate in my every day life. The main value of this book for me was to remind me how enjoyable playing “in the field” can be, and why it’s worthwhile to do so.

I’m sure you’ll have fun with this and likely benefit over the long term as well.

Note: I received this book for free from Hay House Publishing for review purposes and this review reflects my honest evaluation.

Chakra CardsI’ve used a lot of oracle card decks and would rate Chakra Wisdom Oracle Cards by Tori Hartman above average.

Oracles are helpful to reference when considering a question or issue, as they help trigger intuition and insights.

Some work better than others, and this is one of the better ones.

What I like the most is that for each card, there’s quite a bit of material, offering a good chance of hitting on what feels “just right” with regard to considering the issue from a different viewpoint, noticing something you hadn’t before, gaining more clarity, etc.

Individual Cards

For each card, there’s — of course — the card itself. Often something from the image will jump out at me. I like the illustrations by Gretchen Raisch-Baskin, and they have just the right amount of complexity.

Using the Guidebook

Within the guidebook, for each card, there is a title word, a quote, a legend (enjoyable!), an inspiration, a personal inquiry, key ideas, keywords, and a meditation.

That’s quite a lot of raw material to work and play with!

There’s also the card’s general category, or chakra, with interesting write-ups on each of those. Along with that is listed the chakra color and some implications of that.

You can also access what you already know about the colors and/or chakras, which for many of you is quite a bit of extra information since they are already pretty well-established in the main-stream.

The guidebook instructs you on using various spreads or layouts in case you aren’t familiar with them. And even if you are, Tori has put her own spin on them and her variations are fun to play with.

Packaging

The packaging is really nice but with a few tweaks it could be exceptional.

The main box easily pulls out of its jacket with a little ribbon.

Within the box is an indentation which holds the cards, and the guidbook sets nicely on top.

My only complaint is that the indentation is not fastened to the bottom of the box, so the bottom cards slide around and get stuck underneath it. This is remedied by using a rubber band around the deck, but I’m sure that’s not what was intended. šŸ˜‰

Summary

All-in-all, this is a fun deck to use, and because of its broad range, you’re likely to find something that rings true for you in any draw/reading, and which offers you just the guidance you need.

I recommend it.

Note: I received these cards for free for review purposes and this review reflects my honest evaluation.

Play Your Bigger GameThis is a review of the fun-to-read book Play Your Bigger Game by Rick Tamlyn.

I really liked it, and am eager now to play my own bigger game!

Here’s why.

[FYI, I’m not going to discuss the layout or the squares on the game-board. A lot of other reviewers have done that if you’re interested.]

What I find compelling — and will discuss — is some of the philosophy behind it and why I think that basis is its winning element.

As Rick says:

The Bigger Game is designed to create a paradigm and perspective shift.

It’s clearly not business as usual.

In fact, speaking of business, you can apply it to that, or to your life’s work, but just as easily to anything that holds meaning for you. This might include relationships, personal activities, or your interactions with the world at large. Just about anything, really, big or small.

Here are 3 of the main ideas that make it so different than a lot of the motivational how-to books I’m familiar with.

It’s About the Journey

One of the underlying philosophies of The Bigger Game is that goals are overrated.

Rick emphasizes over and over your enjoyment of the process itself. When you choose the right game, this includes enthusiasm that you evoke in yourself, the creativity you open to, and the rewards you enjoy as you move around the board.

So even though you have some objectives in mind (of course; it’s a game, after all), they are not the motivating factor as much as being in the moment, enjoying the moment, and being open to unforeseen ideas and opportunities.

You’re encouraged to remain flexible, inspired, and responsive to what unfolds.

Once you begin playing your own bigger game, something organic happens. You give up the need to control and strategize everything. It’s not that controlling and strategizing are bad and organic is good, but controlling and strategizing are tasks conducted from the left side of the brain (logic), and sometimes we need to lean a little more to the right side (creativity).

Your attention isn’t all focused on outcomes. You’re involved in the playing!

Since our experience of life is always in this moment, it behooves us to keep our focus there (or rather here!) instead of just looking ahead as we grind through necessary tasks simply as a means to an end.

It’s a Game, and You’re PLAYING

This idea in itself is very freeing.

Not only does it feel good, but the spirit of play opens up our innate abilities to imagine, be inspired, get creative, try things out, and most of all, enjoy the process.

This is a no-pressure situation. We play here. … When we play, we tap into our highest levels of creativity and engagement. … This is about finding your passion and purpose and whatever it is that so fully engages you that it never feels like work.

To me, this element is crucial and if not for this idea, I wouldn’t even want to involve myself in this process.

But because of the emphasis on play, I’m excited and naturally positive as I prepare to jump onto the game-board!

A Productive Flow

Be open, available, and in the creative state of flow—fully engaged and always aware. … Don’t try! Be! Let go and trust the process, for there are already forces in play.

By being a fully engaged participant in the game from whatever square you’re on, you automatically become more aware of being part of a bigger picture.

You’ll notice many synchronicities that not only create new opportunities but can even act as a guidance system.

A huge part of playing The Bigger Game is accepting that you don’t need the how; the game will take care of that.

Rick is so good at helping you focus on and uncover whatever is important at any given square.

You get the benefit of his and others’ practical experience with the game to such a degree that that you find yourself inspired as well as confident that his guidance will be beneficial.

For each square, he offers detailed ideas and suggestions, often in the form of questions to ask yourself, and often things you wouldn’t even think of but that could make all the difference.

It’s obvious how the resulting clarity will be a major element of what keeps you moving in a positive direction.

Recommended!

In summary, this book offers you an enlivening framework for making more conscious decisions that are in alignment with what has meaning for you.

Just as importantly, it offers excellent guidance culled from Rick’s own extensive experience. Priceless.

I highly recommend you get the book and play your Bigger Game! I’m going to!

And as Rick says:

Understand that you’re always on the game board. Instead of waiting for the future to come, why not make up your own life as you go?

[All quotes from Play Your Bigger Game by Rick Tamlyn.]

Note: I received this book for free from Hay House Publishing for review purposes and this review reflects my honest evaluation.

Thanks for reading, and have fun playing!

Lotus openingAs you expand your conscious awareness, your intuitive faculties expand right along with it. It can’t be helped.

Everyone is intuitive to some degree.

We have so much information available to us all the time, but we just forget to pay attention.

Today we’ll discuss a few more ideas to help increase your awareness, and thus your intuition.

First, intuition is defined as:

  • Immediate cognition. The ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.
  • The act or faculty of knowing or sensing without the use of rational processes.
  • The power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference.

Notice how the definitions explicitly eliminate rational thought from the equation.

When we can be purely aware, without interference of the rational process either to figure out what something means or to rationalize why it can’t possibly mean what it feels like it means, our intuition flows freely.

And if you combine that with becoming more deliberately aware, your intuition goes through the roof – literally!

3 Tips to Increase Your Intuition

Here are some ways you can deliberately increase your awareness and thus your intuition.

1. Be Aware Both Deeply and Broadly.

a. Focusing provides the depth.

If you want to get an impression of something in particular you would rest your attention easily on that thing (or person or situation) and see what you notice. Stay open to anything. You can ask yourself pointed questions about it.

In other words, probe.

Allow your attention to go more deeply than your normal senses might take you.

b. Opening provides the breadth.

To do this you can intentionally expand your awareness to the peripheries and beyond.

For example, as it relates to sight, let your eyes rest on the wall (or area) in front of you and see what you might notice literally in your peripheral vision. (Remember Eagle Eyes?)

Here again, notice what you are physically seeing but also let yourself see with your mind’s eye. Do some areas seem ā€œdarkā€? Especially lively? Icky? Attractive? Are any calling for your attention in some way? Notice all these things.

While practicing both of these, have confidence in your experience and above all, don’t judge it. Just notice it for now.

These perceptions are packed with information and making them conscious will help allow them to reveal themselves purely.

2. Open to Surprises

This can be practiced while you’re deliberately doing intuitive work, or even as you go about your day. (It helps to set it as an intention.)

Especially notice those quick little thoughts — and especially non sequiturs — that flit across your mind. They are often a message, and quite an obvious one.

3. Notice What You Notice!

This one can be powerful.

There is usually a good reason for you to notice one thing over another. It’s not always so apparent at the time, but if you make a note of these things, it’s not uncommon to later realize that it was relevant to something going on in your life. If you can catch the relevance at the time, all the better. (Remember my story about the ravens? Like that!)

So these are a few simple ideas for easily expanding your awareness.

They can greatly enhance your intuitive awareness by opening new channels in your habitual modes of experiencing.

If you play around with these ideas and activities enough, you will likely notice some interesting and applicable things right away.

Do any or all of these tips call to you? Then play around with it/them.

And enjoy!

Wow. I have been on quite the writing frenzy lately. You wouldn’t know it from my blog … But you will be able to access all the “good stuff” that I’ve been preparing in just 9 short days.

It was an interesting experience. I had an intense schedule which is unusual for me.

Stress!

Partway in, I was fortunate to notice that I was not approaching my daily tasks with a sense of joy. I mean, I was excited about all I wanted to share but I fell behind almost immediately so there was an overlay of pressure, and because of that, the dreaded “S” word: Stress.

For some reason — I can only call it grace, with a bit of conditioning thrown in — one morning it dawned on me that I didn’t have to do it that way. That there was a much MUCH better way!

It was time to practice what I preach — and ironically, exactly what I was writing about!

A Conscious Approach

And so, I backed off.

I took some time to BE.

And BEing is so powerful! This only took a few minutes and I knew what I had to do, or rather “how” I wanted to do!

Each of us will have our favorite ways of being conscious about what we’re doing (or how we’re doing it), but here are the 3 things that helped me the most.

1. Ritual

This sounds so simple but made a huge difference. I did all my futzing, and when I was ready to sit down and focus for some period of time, I rang my chime. (You could just as easily light a candle, say a prayer, or anything else you feel called to do.)

It signaled that it was time to focus and be purposeful. It was a boundary of sorts, and I honored that.

Just as importantly, it sounds beautiful and I always love to ring it. That alone calls in nothing short of a sacred space that feels wonderful!

As I listened to its vibration fade away, I essentially set my intention to express what it was that wanted to be expressed through me.

2. Touch In

So what was it exactly, that wanted to be expressed through me?

I touched in with my essence and explored that question.

I always got an answer. Note that this is very different than thinking about it or figuring it out. It’s not a (predominantly) mental process.

There were often several options and they always felt good.

3. Play

This one was important!

And again, ironically, you almost have to let go of “importance” in order to play!

By this I mean a “lightspirited” approach. Allowing the energy to flow, and at the same time letting go of a need for any particular results.

When I had two (or more) ideas for the same concept, I would choose the one that felt the most fun.

This is not frivolous. To the contrary, we’re paying attention to the “voice” of the light and the life within us, indicating our best path. It will be the most rewarding and the most effective.

Pretty soon, I was in a rhythm, and an enjoyable rhythm at that.

It wasn’t long before I was not only caught up, but even ahead of schedule. I ended up submitting my 30 articles a day ahead of time, and in a relaxed, easy frame of mind. Yay!

Here’s to living consciously – the only way to be!

Patti

So, how do you turn it around? From stress, to joy? I’d love to hear!

Life is your playground! This really is the most important thing I could possibly say.

But bear with me, as it’s a whole different paradigm than most people live by.

When you know who and what you truly are, in your essence, you will realize that you are not at stake here in this life.

That frees you to simply enjoy it, challenges and all.

I know. I’ve been through some major challenges, the most recent being a major financial loss. It could have been devastating but for this new way of BEing that I picked up along the way.

Presence, or the Open State

It’s about living in Presence, one experience of what I call the Open State.

If you’ve followed Eckhart Tolle, you may have an idea what Presence is.

But I also think that many of us (because I did it in the beginning, too) have a shallow understanding of what Presence actually is.

It’s NOT simply being in the moment in the sense of experiencing what’s in front of you right then, although that’s a helpful way to finally get to it.

It’s not even just about practicing mindfulness – that’s more a way to enjoy and “play” (which I’ll talk more about below).

It’s about going a level deeper than that.

It’s about BEing in that moment fully and to such a degree that you are aware of your immortal nature.

You become aware of the space or silence or stillness that Eckhart refers to.

You become aware of the still field that is omnipresent, existing throughout all things.

The field that you ARE.

The awareness that you ARE.

Once you’ve experienced this, you just know that you are not threatened by anything happening “out there” (more on “out there” later ;-)). You are not helped by it, nor are you harmed by it.

And then, as you experience it more and more, this knowing becomes a part of who you are as a personality, and you begin to live much more in peace.

In joy, ease, and lightness.

Fear begins to melt away.

The love that you are in essence begins to express, naturally, as compassion for everything and everyone, for you know that it is all YOU.

And you don’t just know or believe it intellectually. You know it through and through.

Then you’ll begin to see that this you, this essence that exists prior to manifestation, is what unfolds or emerges AS as your life, including you as a thinking, acting human being. (This is the level at which we work and play during a Holographic Emergenceā„¢ session. This you, and these subtle layers that are the blueprint for what manifests.)

But still, YOU are not affected by it in any way. Not really.

And you know this.

Which frees you to play with it, no matter how your mind might judge it.

You get to fully experience lila, or Divine play. (For you are Divine! :-))

And you experience your life as one giant playground, full of all kinds of new experiences!

Help Along the Way: Amazing Resources

I’ve come to this over time primarily with the remarkable guidance of 2 enlightened beings.

1) Eckhart Tolle. I can’t recommend his work enough. I’ve read his books several times, each time getting something deeper and richer. I listen to his audios over and over, again hearing or absorbing exactly what’s needed to keep me moving each day toward this state of BEing.

2) John Sherman. His work at River Ganga is extraordinary. Without him, I don’t think I’d have really gotten even what Eckhart offers. His teaching is one-pointed, i.e. Look at Yourself. It’s through this extremely simple practice that I have really grokked who/what I am. I mean really, really got it, to the core. I no longer simply experienced the stillness. It became clear that that is what I AM, and that stillness is ultra-aware. It’s pure consciousness. It’s awareness. It’s me.

Both Eckhart and John illuminate in a new and accessible way what the Eastern Masters have been saying for millennia. I spent quite a long time immersed in Eastern philosophy. The world they so beautifully describe is nothing short of heaven on earth. (Have you ever read the Upanishads? They’re breathtakingly beautiful!) I’ve meditated for decades and meditation is, of course, helpful.

But it wasn’t until I became aware of these two and dove deeply into their teachings that I was able to actually access it; to benefit in a meaningful and profound way, and to really begin to become more consciously this Light that we all are.

A Path, not a Destination

I’m still growing. I don’t consider myself an enlightened master – yet. šŸ˜‰

The good news is you don’t have to be at the summit to experience extraordinary benefits.

Little by little we become more and more conscious of who and what we are.

And little by little, we emerge as our true, authentic, essence. And this unfolding is rich and satisfying.

No matter what.

NamastƩ,

Patti

I’ve been playing with the idea of lucid dreaming lately.

Not literally. Not with my dream-state, at night.

But with my waking state, during the day.

And the results are immediate and powerful.

Lucid Living

I was introduced to this idea many years ago by Timothy Freke. He talks about our life as a lucid dream. (A lucid dream is one in which you know you’re dreaming while you’re in it. You can then make conscious choices.)

And my point about lucid dreaming is that even if it’s a scary dream, when you know you’re dreaming, you can enjoy it!

But whether a dream is lucid or not:Ā  Who is it that’s experiencing the dream? It’s YOU.

And as you know, your dream can’t hurt you. You are truly not at stake in it. You’re just experiencing it.

It’s the same with “real life“.

And whether your dreams are lucid or not, your life ideally is.

A lucid life means that at some level you are “awake” and aware enough to not be totally caught up in your story. At that level of consciousness, you can watch this life as if it’s a dream.

You really are not at stake in it. At least, not the real you, the YOU that you are in essence. You are immortal and cannot be touched by it in any way, shape, or form.

I’ve been working with this idea — that we are not at stake — for several years, and I now know it in my bones. You might know it as well. You’ll certainly know it when you “die”, but if you can believe this now, OH, how much more pleasant your life can be!

Still, I’m not asking you to believe this if you don’t want to. It’s great if you do, for life becomes a fascinating adventure rather than something threatening.

But even if you don’t, then for the sake of experiencing the release I’m suggesting, just see if you can pretend to believe it for now.

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily.
Life is but a dream.

Yesterday’s Nightmare

I’ve been so frustrated lately.

I went to the doctor a few months ago for an annual physical. I was very clear that was all I wanted, nothing more.

I’m now getting notices that I was charged for a LOT more.

I spent the last month being routed around to 10 different people trying to find out who to even talk with about this.

I finally hit on the right guy, only to find out that he doesn’t return calls. When I finally caught him “in”, he made phone appointments with me which he just didn’t bother to keep. Yes, he stood me up! Twice! I’m trying to find someone else to talk with but that’s been a dead end.

I’m feeling hung out to dry and completely powerless.

So that’s my story.

Today’s Lucid Dream (aka Life!)

But you know what?

It’s just a story!

It’s life!

And that’s okay!

No, I’m not going to drop it. I’m tenacious.

But the way I’ve found to work with it so as not to be completely frustrated and angry is to remind myself that it’s all a dream.

I am not at stake in this.

I am determined to continue to act with integrity. I am determined to not let him or that dysfunctional facility ruin my day — or even one more precious moment.

I mean, it’s a beautiful day, and I’ve got so much to be grateful for, not the least of which is this amazing adventure called life, whatever it brings, right?!

And so, I play with the idea that this is just a dream … and you can do this too.

It’s a different level of dream than you have at night, but still a dream. One difference is that at this level, things actually make their way into what we know of as form, as manifestation.

But it still doesn’t hurt you. It can’t possibly.

When you’re able to remember this (i.e. be lucid, and at some level awake, and know you’re not at stake), it helps you be present for the adventure.

In my example, it’s hard even for me to believe but I found myself actually enjoying the call I made to him this morning, telling his message machine that I didn’t appreciate being stood up. Yes, enjoying! And I don’t mean gloating, nor being “above it all”. I mean being totally there, allowing Presence to direct my words spontaneously, and appreciating it as part of this life I get to live.

And it wasn’t so bad! šŸ˜‰

And I’m not upset today. (Hallelujah!)

Dream Your Holiday

So I wanted to share this idea with you.

I know that over the holidays, especially, we can get stressed out even more easily than at other times of the year.

And this is a great way to turn stress into productive play.

To change our habits of upset.

To turn any kind of a nightmare into a dream. šŸ™‚

It feels great, and I dare say that in my experience, it also helps what we think of as “the future” to unfold most gracefully.

Your Turn

So what do you think?

Do you buy it? If not, do you see how pretending to buy it and then acting accordingly might help?

Are you willing to try it?

I’d love to hear.

A Way of Being, with Fun on Top!Did you know that the most powerful way to practice Emergence requires no overhead at all?

Granted, the sessions themselves are short and fun, but there’s another even more basic aspect of Emergence I want to be really clear about:

Emergence is not so much an activity.
It’s a way of Being.

And then, on top of that way of Being, there are some ways you can apply quantum principles to help encourage your essence to emerge in a certain way. These are what comprise a session.

Spirited Play

But you can’t facilitate sessions with a sense of desperation or even need. It just doesn’t work that way.

It’s got to be in the spirit of fun, and play. Because that’s what this world of form is. It’s a playground!

I know, I know.

I, too, have had some big challenges that sure don’t feel like fun.

But that’s the trick – to get to that place where even difficult things can be appreciated at least as adventures!

In the memorable words of John Sherman,

“You are not at stake here!”

Your Essence is Immortal and Untouchable

We (as consciousness, awareness, essence) are never affected in any way by what’s occurring in our lives. And that means not only “outward” seeming events and situations, but even what most consider “inner” movements such as thoughts and feelings.

They are not you!

Well, okay … in a way they are because they are your essence emerging and not apart from you, but they are not you as your divine, immortal Being.

It’s helpful to “get” that. Understanding it is a start but ultimately you want to live it.

So once you are actually operating consistently from that state of Being, you’ll find that your life unfolds much more harmoniously than if you’re not.

And even when it doesn’t, you are able to appreciate it for what it is.

It’s a movement of your own consciousness
that you, as your divine self,
are getting to experience.

How amazing and cool is that?!

Fun with Form

And then, just for fun, you can learn to do Emergence “sessions” to intentionally play in the quantum field — that same field of consciousness or awareness that is your essence — to help shift how you are emerging. In other words, to affect the world of form that you experience.

And this blog discusses all of the above. If you read my posts, and apply the periodic exercises or suggestions, you ought to be able to learn a lot just from that.

Thank you!

Patti

This seems like an auspicious day to let our hearts loose. Don’t you think?

And who knows what that will look like … feel like …

(Probably pretty good!)

It’s time to play!

Check in with your heart and you’ll know I’m right.

At least that’s what my heart is saying to me.

Enough! of the control.

Enough! of the planning.

Enough! trying to do it “right”.

If I listen, my heart says to lighten up.

If I listen, I have a new direction. Inward. And outward.

Toward expression, expansion, and experimentation.

Based on my heart song.

Toward freedom … no, not toward it but reveling in the freedom that is already at hand.

Toward lila, Divine play. Creating freely, for the joy of it.

If not now, when?

I’m listening today. Are you?

Stop a moment.

Right now. Close your eyes. Listen to your heart. (Smile. That helps you hear it. :-D)

What is your heart saying? How can you let it sing today?

Will you?

Happy Valentine’s Day! I wish you a happy heart and joyous creating.
